Artist’s statement: “My passion is photographing nature and the majestic outdoors. My goal is to share my passion with you through my images. If my photograph can rekindle a feeling, emotion, memory, or passion within you that might help you enjoy your day just a little more, then I will have succeeded! Nothing can match your feelings and emotions as you experience the cool blue light and temperatures of the pre-dawn hours; or the peaceful, calming pastels of a sunrise; or the vivid, saturated colors of a sunset; or the crisp, clean air in the mountains and canyons; or the power of a raging, clear stream and rocky waterfall; or the fresh scent of a virgin pine forest; or the quiet stillness of the desert; or the millions of stars that can be seen on a cool, clear night in the mountains, deserts, or canyons. Of course, no photograph can really do justice to the sensory overload experienced during these magic moments. However, maybe the visual images can trigger some memories, sentiments, reactions, or passions that have been dormant far too long. Maybe they can help us appreciate life just a little more. I believe there are three parts to a great image: 1) great technical skill in using the photography equipment, 2) great subjects, and 3) great light. Of the three, great light is the most rare and elusive. Light that is BOLD and striking is what catches the eye! Photography is nothing more than painting with light and then freezing the magic for generations to enjoy. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to spend time each month outdoors, photographing majestic, as well as intimate, natural settings and native cultures. My photo trips rejuvenate my spirit and increase my appreciation for life.” “May you live all the days of your life.” Jonathan Swift
